Photographer's Note

Colourful houses with shutters, Genoa has plenty of them. But, unlike these, many are hidden in the dark carruggi, the maze of narrow alleys in the city's heart. Even in the daytime, the sun hardly manages to intrude there. Makes you wonder why they need those shutters in the first place. Maybe just to keep the heat out?
