Crete Senesi
The Crete Senesi are a singular setting, almost an island where the sun hits a knock, knocking the ground, blowing the wind unobstructed, the light is blind and the gaze can span everywhere, pursuing distant horizons, delightful lines, unique graphics.
They meet in the southeast area of the city of Siena, which includes the communes of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Montalcino and Trequanda, all in the province of Siena.
The name comes from clay, or clay, present in the ground, giving the landscape the characteristic gray-blue color and a lunar appearance. This characteristic clay, mixed with salgem and chalk, called mattaione, is made up of Pliocene sea sediments covering the area between 2.5 and 4.5 million years ago.
The landscape is characterized by hilly, gently rolled hills, bald and whitish hills, oaks and lonely cypresses, isolated farms at the top of the hills, tracts of wood in the valleys, the fountains that collect rainwater.
The area is also known for producing white truffles in the Crete.

Beautiful view with the lonely tree in the distance giving very good depth to the composition. The light is also very good, which gives a fine texture to the fields. Wonderful job!

A simple but fascinating composition. The low point of view and the lighting together bring a sculpted feel to the composition. The solitary tree makes an excellent focal point to which we are drawn by the contrasting colours in the landscape. First class photography.

Hello Silvio, it looks as if someone has laid an enormous length of fabric over the landscape, so that we see the rolling shape of the contours.
The isolated tree is an ideal focal point, and we get just a glimpse of the very distant tree covered hills.

Just that one tree changes this landscape from beautiful to splendid. The curved landscape is amazing in the dying sunlight. Good to use it for the largest part of the composition. The border between foreground and background is just at the right position.
