Campi Castle
The Castello di Campi, for many centuries, was under the influence of the nearby and powerful Abbey of SantEutizio. Norcia following the strengthening of the imperial party in Umbria, in the first half of the thirteenth century, with the help of Frederick II in 1227 he took possession of the castle of Presenzano, located near Campi Basso, plundering and destroying it, then also taking possession of the same Fields. On 22 July 1250 the Cardinal Legate Capocci recognized the possession of Campi in Norcia, but the concession increased the appetites of the butchers. The abbot of Sant'Eutizio Teodino, in order to make peace, on 21 October 1257, acknowledges the possession of the Villa di Campi in the municipality of Norcia, which, surrounded by walls in 1288, became one of the most important nursini castles, both for its location geographical area, to control the road network that crosses the Campiana valley, and because it is located near the boundaries of the powerful Abbey of Sant'Eutizio and the Municipality of Visso. Proof of the prosperity of the settlement, its importance and its wealth is the presence of as many as 22 churches, oratories and convents. The 2016 earthquake damaged it considerably, the photo prior to the seismic event.

Hello Silvio,
A beautiful white village built on a green slope of the hill.
Always a fascinating landscape.
Here again, the uniformity of the houses that makes the whole, together with the church in equal style, such a beautiful unit.
Excellent work
Have a nice Sunday, Groet Rob

Ciao Caro Silvio,
Not a fountain in sight!
But this is a very attractive village and your composition has clearly shown how neatly it is built into the hillside, almost like a natural feature!
The steepness of the hillside is remarkable to host such a conglomeration of buildings.
Excellent clarity and natural colours.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Silvio,
Another one of these incredibly picturesque villages of central Italy. The steep slope create a terrific view, but I wonder how old people manage to walk up this hill. Probably most people still living here are quite old. But the beauty of the view is undeniable, and the fine colours and light enhance the effect.
Best regards,
Gert

A picture of this town before the earthquake, taken from an opposite hill, Silvio, made me wonder how it looks nowadays, if renovated again.
Well allocated the picture space within the frame. Green slope contrast with the old town houses.
Arrivederci,
Ike

Ciao Silvio,
amazing view of one of those charming villages. They are so nicely located half way through the hill. I like how each and every house in the village is of the same style, made of the same color of stone.
Nice diagonal hill adds an interesting geometric touch.
Very well done,

Hello Silvio,
The houses of the town stand out very well from the steep slopes they were built on and are very nicely surrounded by lots of green and some grey rocks and cliffs. You captured it very well in a clear sunlight.

Hi Silvio.
How ideal the vision of these small towns located on the same side of the mountain, which makes us see the houses one and the other behind as if they were piling up, the sun illuminates them in a wonderful way making them stand out from the green of the mountain .
Very nice coloring, in some very attractive tones.
Good brightness management and magnificent sharpness.
Very well done. My congratulations.
All the best and have a good start to the week, my friend.
Luis.

Ciao Silvio, Interesting village in the remote place on the slopes of the mountain. all the buildings are in the same style. I hoper you will show us closer views of some buildings. The one on the right side with columns is especially interesting. It looks very picturesque, but living there must be hard.
Have a nice new week.
Stay safe

Hello Silvio,
The sunlight on the white and light gray facades makes the village shine on the green mountain slope.
It is wonderful how these houses are built close together on the difficult building terrain.
Best regards, Paul
