The wonderful medieval "Sacra di San Michele"

Info from http://www.sacradisanmichele.com

"Was one of the most famous Benedictine abbeys in northern Italy and is one of the greatest architectonic buildings in Europe among those dating back to the Romanesque period.
It was founded between 983 and 987 as a result of the needs and the culture of the pilgrims of that time, and it soon became an important spiritual centre and a great crossroad for cultural exchanges, midway between Mont Saint Michel and the Gargano, a destination of numerous, frequent and elitist visits."
