Infos source by De Agostini:

Situated not far from the Ticino river, Abbiategrasso belonged to the Milanese overlords, who turned it into a fortress toward the river, and it was one of the favourite residences of the Visconti family. The castle, which is mentioned in the archives as far back as the 10th c., has survived in the version of it built by the Visconti family in the 14th–15th c. Other important historical buildings include the Lombard Gothic Church of Santa Maria Nuova, founded in 1365 with a big triangular arch on the facade and a quadriporticus or arcaded court by Bramante (1497).
