Brukna manor house, a photo from Bauskas, Central

Brukna manor house surprised me - it does not have any trees near it. Very rare sight in Latvia.
This early classicism manorhouse is located in rather deppressive, spooky area. It was empty and who knows - may be in 10 years it would collapse... Happily an lutheran mission has taken it over. Currently here are living some 15 young people who have decided to get rid of narcotics. Most of them are from Riga and countryside is strange place for them. Together with priest they are working hard and are convinced that in some years this place would be like paradise. Some of the works show that they do not know much about building or gardening - but time should teach them. Hope, there would be more support to them in future. I really wish them much luck!!!

Very interesting picture and notes. I think that a bit of crop around your main subject woud enhance it but I understand that the picture as it is shows the loneliness of the place. I tried to make a WS to improve your nice picture

I really like the strange feeling of this picture. The colors, under this cloudy day, are very effective to show the desolation of the place. Maybe a little rotation CCW to correct the tilt. Otherwise well done.

This must have been a magnificent home at one time. It's so sad to see it in such condition. The weather and the colorless sky add to the bleak feeling of this photo. Strange how the combination of the building and the reddish color roof imitate the colors of the Latvian flag.
