What a great photograph! The blue/grey colour tone is wonderfully offset by the flash of white through the clouds. Really well done.

I like the border as well. I might be tempted to remove the metal rod next to the path in photoshop, but that would be lying right?

Hello Mitko,

As a scientist, I know a good deal about the geology of this area, and I am very happy to see such a beautiful photograph of Lake Ohrid. Six million years ago, the Straits of Gibraltar closed up, without sufficient rivers feeding into it, the Mediterranean ran dry. Only the Black Sea, and Lake Ohrid remained wet with rivers feeding into it. Five million years ago, the Straits of Gibraltar opened up again, and the Atlantic flooded the Mediterranean basin, but Lake Ohrid and the Black Sea remained isolated from the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, only about 7,000 years ago the Mediterranean broke through the land bridge formed in what is now Istanbul, and the Black Sea which had become a fresh water lake, was flooded by the Mediterranean. Thank you for sharing the spectacular photograph of my late father's birthplace.
