Photographer's Note
Ancient Roman glassware and beakers displayed in the Budva Museum. The Romans annexed this part of Montenegro in the 2nd century BC. It has been previously known as BATHUA, BUTOBA, & BUTUA. They supplanted the Illyrians who had been there since the 5th century BC. After the Romans, were the Byzantines (535- 1184), then the Nemanjic dynasty (1184 – 1186), the Serbs, then the Venetians in 1442, with frequent attempts by the Turkish Ottomans to conquer the city, then the French in 1807, the Austro Hungarians in 1813 until 1918, then the Italians 1941-1944, then as part of Former Republic of Yugoslavia until Montenegro became independent in 2006. So the town has had quite a chequered history!
I've loaded a workshop of the Archeology Museum exterior for context. Btw, according to the legend, it is by the oxen that Budva got its name, (Bous – in Greek = Ox).

Hello Chris,
Amazing that they have survived for close to 2000 years. My wine glasses are usually broken long before that. These are nicely designed and well displayed.
Regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Le cadrage serré met les urnes en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des urnes en vitre. La lumičre met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
Superbly collected the sight of the ancient glass-art on display, those look the same - but each is very different when looking at details.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Chris, how wonderful that these pieces have survived intact after all the years.
An imaginative way to display the pieces as most of them do not have flat bottoms.
A good variety of colours too. A good sharp shot with well managed light.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Chris
Fascinating collection of ancient artifacts, certainly very Greek! Objects in museums are never easy subjects as I have experienced before, but you have done well here without too many reflections getting in on the act. Excellent work through glass where I could spend hours in such places. Very cool indeed!
Best regards

I saw many roman glass in museums, most of them was modified by the chemical elements of the ground where they were buried. these ones looks so perfect, looks like they were buried in a special way to prevent damages. fantastic so fragile objects arrived to us.
take care
jorge
