Photographer's Note
This was at kilometer 25, and the same spot as my panning picture here.
Every five kilometers, there's a water- and energy drinks supply spot, and many runners slow down, or even stop for a while.
It was still very cold and rainy at that time of day, but almost all got their drinks here.
Last year the temperatures were very high, abour 25° C, and a lot af people suffered from cramp because of dehydration.
Because I am a 'hand lover', I focussed on the hands.
This man needed 4:14:31 to finish.
As a workshop I have uploaded the sweeping team on the same spot after everyone had passed. This is to kick off slowly from the 'sweeping hype', that occurred for a short period on TE.

Hi Rinie. Your photo is technically good. But I like the different point of view of a sport event. Is a good capture of a instant. Very good job.

Me gusta... I like it, maybe it will be great to have focus in both the hand and the face, but with the circunstances given, I´m aware that it was not easy... I like the background too. Interesting one, Renie.
PD: I´m "feet lover" hehehehehehehe

Hi Rinie,

Heel mooi, groeten Albrecht

Very very good tight framing on the hands and perfect DOF keeping our attention on the main subject but still letting us see that there is a crowd looking at the marathon.
I wonder why the hand giving the glass of water is wearing a surgical glove. I understand that it is for hygienic reasons but what is the danger of handing out water ? afraid of body contact ? anyway, just curious about this.

Excellent capture of this decisive moment,Rinie! With the small dof you isolated this scene very good from the busy background.
Nice detail catch of the Marathon!

We sure can see where you put your focus on, because your lens is so sharp! A pitty that the D70 seemed so BIG in my small hands. I felt like David struggling against Goliath. Yes, I'm about the size of the yellow fellow on the plastic glass.... but hey....in fact that's ME!! How did you get me in there??

Excellent shot, Rinie! I like very much your composition with this sharp globet and the funny face on it! The framing of the hand which is taking it is also well done with the face of the runner in the upper right corner. Bravo!

Nice shot Rinie;
Great DOF, and motion blur in the runner- and the contrast with the incredibly sharp hand and cup. I also like the fact that you didn't crop out the guys face.
Well done!

Hi Rinie,
Normally next sunday, I will do the same think than this runner during the next half-marathon in Nice!
I like the way this guy is looking to the cup: he should not forget the precious content!!
Very good usage of the DOF.
Bravo!

Nice composition. Good work in focusing on the water cup. Clors of course are very D70!

Rinie, yes with this picture I can see the quality of the kit lens.
Very sharp and clear on the subject and blurry on the bg. Good capture of the moment with the hands transferring the water. The crop works well and helps focus on the hands.
And.. tnx for the lens links. I will check them out :)

This picture is very strong, Rinie. I really like the hand with the cup, the bold colors and the shallow DOF. I also enjoy very much the fact that the runner and the yellow figure on the cup share the same expression of suffer ;-)
Great Catch.

Hi Rinie, Nice how you zoomed in on this colourful cup with its indeed oh so very important content. The DoF is great, throwing everything outta focus xcept the cup and the hand (how sterile this looks here!) Due to the juxtaposition of the primary colours it's also a very nice graphic piece. Well done & have a fine weekend. Bert.

Hi Rinnie, just catching up a bit in a snatched TE moment. I see I've not missed too many of your shots, but what shots! This one is really clever, you obviously had to plan it beforehand, and the crop, focussing our attention on the cup is just right.
