Photographer's Note

This is the third and last pic of the Summer Carnival 2006 mini series.

This dancer was part of one of the most colourful groups. She had quite a presence. I stood on one of the busiest part of the route, so I had to shoot through the crowd. I dialled in the biggest lens opening on offer to get a shallow DoF.
In the WS in another captures of one of the other group members.

The Summer Carnaval is one of the biggest events in Rotterdam and is visited by 900.000 people. It was formerly known as the Carnival of The Antillen and it’s still distinctly South American in style and outlook.

They visitors come to watch a very colourful, groovy and crazy procession consisting of some 80 large flatbed trailers, each with their own power supply and big sound system, supplying the group/organisation to which they belong (in Brazil this would be called a sambaschool) with the South american dance music of their choice.

PCS2 tech: heavily cropped, altered the contrast, saturation, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.
