Photographer's Note
Wallstone (gevelsteen; hard to translate) of one of the remaining 17th/18th century Dutch Eastindia Trading Company's warehouses.
This one is located at the Tufhaven, the corner building at the bridge to the Muntstraat. In the old days used to store pepper, nowadays the home of Hoorn's historical society "Oud Hoorn".
The scene shows "fluitschepen" (a Dutch design, wide and round keel, very fast, original design by Liorne from Hoorn). The red/white/red flag is the flag of Hoorn, to portray that this is about the Hoorn Chamber of the VOC.
In Hoorn you will find many stones with scenes and depictions. One serie of three buildings even covers a whole battle against the Spaniards (Karperkuil, on the corner of the Grote Oost).

Nice picture. You have a good eye for the details and the painted stone is quite colourfull.
The note is also clear and very informative.
Thanks for sharing,
Emmanuel
