A Postcard for Fred..., a photo from Oppland, South

Photographer's Note

When we visited Jack / jrj we made a huge tour around Valdres where he has his holiday cottage.
We went from Fagernes to Borgund via the E16 (no more than a little mountain road actually...) and came back to Valdres via R52. Somewhere in between we enjoyed such very moody landscapes. I think that area and a bit more north, the Jotunheim, will always remain my favourite.

I like the composition with the diagonals all pulling me into the shot. I feel the sky could be improved with a little playing in PS. When I find time I will try a workshop. TFS.

Selon ce qui est prévu, je vais revenir du Nord de la Norvčge par la R52 et je vais essayer de rendre visite ŕ Jack aussi. (on en a d'ailleurs parlé lors du meeting ŕ Rotterdam)
En tout cas, je te remercie pour cette photo, Viviane! Elle me donne bel et bien envie d'ętre sur cette route.

Fred will be happy (oh, I see he is), but so am I! It's a delightful picture. I love the way the road seems part of the mountains and everything is going to melt into the sky. There is a sense of depth and immensity in that perspective. Thank you!

Le point de vue est bien choisi ŕ condition de faire attention aux éventuelles voitures.
Pour m'amuser un peu j'effectue un WS de WS sur la version couleur.

Nice capture and it works well in this bw setting. The nature looks to be more like R52 than the huge Grindane by Vang - but I may be wrong. Last time I hiked the mountain Grindane it sure 'felt' higher than this.
Good work - always a pleasure to see your enthusiasm of these landscapes.
BTW: I uploaded a photo of Grindane as seen from the other side (that is up on the mountain before starting the hike) :-)

C'est une trčs belle photo. Le noir et blanc est parfaitement adapté pour ce type de paysage. Ça donne un air désolant ŕ cette région qui est, je n'en doute pas, trčs belle. Les nuages, la montagne érodée et la route qui semble ne pas finir se complčtent bien. Cette photo me rappelle le paysage du Nord du Canada.

P.S. C'est une excellente initiative que de donner de votre temps pour signaler les photos qui ne sont pas au bon endroit, ou dont la région ou la ville entrée n'est pas la bonne. J'ai commencé ŕ faire la męme chose au Canada.

A great open road photograph - for anyone who has lived or travelled in countries with big distances between towns, this will stricke a chord. the B&W finish simply emphasises the timelessness (and place-lessness, to invent a work) of this shot. Nice composition with the road filling up the whole of the bottom of the frame and then heading off towards the vanishing point. If anything, I migh have cropped this one down to just above the ridge of mountains on the right - to emphasise the way that the cloudy sky seems to be pressing down on the land below. thanks and regards, Iain

Bonjour, joli choix du noir et blanc pour cette photo avec plusieurs lignes maitresses conduisant le regard vers l'arričre plan, notamment la pente douce de la montagne et la route. Le ciel chargé apporte aussi beaucoup. Bravo !
