Just back from holidays in Scandinavia and bringing back Another postcard for Greg... Because I liked his palet of colours so much that I wanted to give him the Blue & Yellow lights of the world's longest tunnel of Laerdal - 24.5 km

* Why these stunning colours in that huge tunnel?

From BBC news: If the spacing between the tunnel lights matches the resting rhythm of the heart it can induce a hypnotic effect.
Gunnar Jenssen, behavioural scientist, suggested a number of ideas and conducted tests and computer simulations on volunteers to find out which worked best.
As a result Laerdal was built in four sections with three caverns or "mountain halls" in between.
"Because it was in sections, people did not feel that it was so long," said Mr Gunnar Lotsberg who helped design Laerdal and is one of the world's foremost authorities on road tunnel design
Each cavern has also been built with special lighting - yellow at the bottom and blue at the top - which is designed to simulate the sunrise.
The driver simulator tests suggested these "dawns" refreshed the drivers as they passed through the caverns.
Motorists are also able to do a U-turn at each of the mountain halls if, for example they are running low on fuel.
The caverns also have laybys to allow drivers to pull over and have a rest.

Laerdal is now seen as the role model for tunnel designers worldwide.

Thank you so much, Viviane! These moving tunnels have become a kind of classic TE genre. This is a really good one - not super-clean as some of the others - the colour texture on the ceiling is wonderful. Beautiful place.

Still have to get to the print shop... :)

Trčs joli graphisme. Tout est bien fait pour entraîner le regard vers le fond du tunnel. Invitation au voyage ?
Excellente composition avec un nuancier de bleus extra.

hi Viviane, the BBC news is correct..this view does induce a hypnotic effect. an oscar for the designer. i would love so much to be there in person, but thank you for showing this here on TE, the blur and strong blue are absolutely fantastic.

Ah... la Norvčge "intérieure" !! J'aime beaucoup ta photo trčs graphique avec cette perspective "fantomatique" et notamment la ligne d'éclairage qui se prolonge dans le "trou" noir du tunnel.

Et puis tout ce nuancier de bleus !! et la note trčs intéressante.

Quelle beauté bleue!
La note est trčs interessante et la photo charmante! :)
C'est incroyable ŕ quel point la photo est suave, c'est ŕ dire que les lumičres n'ont pas sauté enormement lors de ce passge... on voit dčs lors ŕ quel point les routes sont douces au Nord ;)
Merci pour cette photo simplement merveilleuse avec une dose de fraîcheur :D

Hi Viviane
I see a growing tendence in your gallery to graphical aproaches, like I noticed already on TE that there is a slow drifting apart of tendences, one that focus totaly on techniques and the other on learning about the world.
The fusion of these two categories is of course the ultimate refining that you enhance with a very informative note while the well saturated zoom-paning has a very pleasing technical value and this final version is definatly very well strenghtened.
Excellent balance here.

Salut Viviane,

Nous sommes également passés dans ce tunnel et ces eclairages UV m'ont également impressionné. Comme je conduisais, je me suis arręté et j'ai pris quelques clichés avec ma voiture en avant plan. (voir WS)
Maintenant, l'effet filé donne trčs bien aussi et tu as bien réglé l'exposition! Trčs bon rélfexe!
Par ailleurs, j'ai également pris la route de montagne qui va de Laerdal ŕ aurland 15 jours avant de passer par ce tunnel.

Hello Viviane.
On pourrait dire que c'est raté, que c'est pas beau, que c'est de l'amateurisme......ben moi quand je vois ca, je dis c'est artistique, c'est bien tenté, et le réusltat est assez fou.
Le flou, dans certaines photos ca peut coller ŕ merveille, et lŕ ca le prouve. En plus il y a ce superbe jeu de bleus et cette petite touche chaude avec ces jaunes ds le fond...ca me plait vraiment bien.

tres disturbing ces couleurs...l'idee est excellente, la notion de vitesse est bien lŕ..
par contre, heureusement qu'il y a ce fil d'ariane au milieu, sinon on se serait perdus..
