Photographer's Note

This is a view from Endalen valley in Forollhogna National Park, showing a small cottage by the roadside...

The facilities for spending the night are few and far between in Forollhogna NP, and rightfully so as the emphasis is to nature. All building activity is prohibited, but of course the existing buildings in the park will remain.

Some of the cabins in the park were built for hunters, shepherds and fishers ages ago. Today they are no longer needed for this purpose, instead they are now open for trekkers for free usage. The standard is very simple with bed, fireplace and cooking facilities but that's about all you need! I mean - who goes to the mountains to watch TV..?

Today there are around 30 open cottages for free use in Forollhogna NP. Trekkers can get maps with GPS tags to show the location, but the risk is the beds are already taken when you get there...

I have included a bonus image as WS1, showing the gate to the park, this time in Synnerdalen valley.

WS2 shows the same place another day from a different PoV...
