Photographer's Note

I can't quite imagine what this place looks like today, after the heavy snowfall we had during the New Year weekend!

This is a summerfarm located on the bank of river Bua, that passes through Synnerdalen in Forollhogna National Park. Many of the summerfarms in this area are still in operation, and the farmers bring the cows to the mountains around Midsummer and keep them there until September.

For some reason grazing in the mountains adds a different and better taste to the milk, cream, cheese, butter and sour cream as compared to what you get in your regular grocery store! The summerfarms in the NP are selling the produce to anyone dropping by, and I for sure recommend the mountain dairy products!

The summerfarm you see here consists of three different houses. The unpainted one in the foreground is the barn where cows spend the nights, as the cattle are milked every evening and morning.

The red house to the left behind is where the people stay, and the smaller house to the right hand side is for production purposes.

A few of the summerfarm buildings are for rent if you want to spend a week or two in the National Park...
