Photographer's Note

This image is from my last trip to Forollhogna National Park in 2010. A wonderful autumn day, warm and sunny but the first snow had arrived on the summits only a few days before...

At this time most of the tourists are gone, so are the hunters as the reindeer hunting season ended around September 20, and people working on the summerfarms have now left the mountains. In other words - you have the place by and large to yourself.

This was taken not far from the beginning of Synnerdalen, one of the valleys leading into the park. From here I have around 20 km ahead to reach basecamp for treks to Mt Forollhogna.
