Photographer's Note
Evening is falling over Hamnřy on a bleak late winter day in March.
Hamnřy is a pleasant little hamlet situated near Reine on the south western tip of the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway. While suffering from repeating gale force windstorms, it is a wonderful place for observing the beautiful spectacle of the Aurora Borealis when the sky is clear.

Hello Daniel,
What a unique setting of this fishing village on a rocky promontory with the sea at both sides and the steep uprising mountains at a third side.
Beautiful snowcapped peaks on the distance.
Wonderful and impressive!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Daniel,
Perhaps Viking marauders maneuvered around these waters and saw this bleak, but eerily beautiful land over a thousand years ago. At least that was the feeling I had in my visit. Your photograph is well composed, perfectly exposed, conveying the felling of the frigid cold wind.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Harmony in multi-blue's, daniel - though it looks as a cold evening.
Chosen perspective show well onto the far side with the prolonged ridge.
Amazing landscape on fine photo.
Have a nice new day,

Hardy souls must live in this gale blown place. The hamlet, despite its red houses, looks like it has sprung from the rocks. Incredible setting for tough individuals. regards. Klaudio.

Hello Daniel, In march it is still winter there, no trace of spring. Marvelous view of Hamnoy, it seem the vary attractive place, with these small houses and impressive mountains just below them.
Maybe you read in the Forum, that I go to Lofoten in a month! I have found cheap flight from gdansk to Trondheim, and the train to Bodo. from Bodo is ferry to Moskenes. There are some buses so it is possible to see quite a lot by buses and of course on foot. I show photos from Italy but I am already excited about white nights far in the north.
Warm regard s Malgo

Hello Daniel,
It seems that both you and Craig (macjake) have fallen in love with the Lofoten Islands - and I can understand why!
The cold blue light is beautiful and your composition is excellent, the tall mountain on the left giving way to more distant snow covered heights on the right beneath which we see the houses and buildings scattered over an otherwise bare and barren looking outcrop of rocky land. When viewed at proper size (of 1400 pixels in width) the details and sharpness in those buildings are exquisite.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and an excellent note to accompany this fine photograph.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Daniel,
I am often amazed that people make a living in the most remotest places with the toughest climates and general conditions. This looks like one of those very special places where I imagine that life can be very tough. It must be an great place to visit and it certainly looks fantastic on a photo. You found a perfect POV with a fine display of the village and the long line of rough looking hills.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Daniel
sorry for the late reply, I've been away this past week.
I can never get enough of these Lofoten scenes, especially from Hamnoy.
such great memories when I see this classic shot.
lots of blues, but most importantly, lots of mountains :)
nice to see the mountains going off to the right side too, just to complete the scene smartly.
see you around
