Photographer's Note
Uten Tittel by Dan Graham
One of the biggest of the Lofoten Islands and the most easterly of the archipelago is Austvĺgřya. On this island, we were camping just a few kilometers from this sculpture which can be found close to E10 at Lyngvćr old ferry some 25 km west from Svolvćr.
This two-way mirror construction is made of stainless steel, it is about 2,5 meter high and 3 meter wide.
Mr. Graham arrived in Lofoten one quiet spring morning to find the location for his artwork. We walked and drove around Austvĺgřy, and we travelled by boat to Skrova. We visited a plethora of different locations: fishing villages, art institutions and private homes alike. Dan Graham himself was calm and present. He had a penetrating eye, like he was imprinting the ever-changing landscape around us on his mind.
On his third and final day in the are, he told us to return to Lyngvćr. As we slowly approached the old ferry landing, Graham yelled "Stop!"
Another minute or two later, and he specified further: "There!" Graham lifted his hand to shield his eyes as he scouted across the water. He had found the site for his next sculpture...

Hello Viviane
A very interesting image. I cannot think of any place I have been in the USA that I would find such a piece in the wilderness. Nice sharp image of this art work.

Hello Viviane,
This is a piece of art that will be constantly changing,; it's wonderfully dynamic!
Did you find yourself moving around, to get the perfect shot for yourself?
I just love the scenery that you have captured.
I researched your link and found photographs where the clouds were dark and the water equally so.
What fun you could have and what fun the artist could be imagining when he selected this!
Big hugs,
Bev :-)

Hello Viviane, this is unusual, I can't quite work it out, am I looking at a reflection?
Actually it doesn't really matter, it is simply a lovely shot.
A very interesting note.
Regards Jean.

Hi Viviane
now this is unique, never seen anything quite like this before. I like this type of 'art', it will always change depending on the current conditions, and it isn't pretencious at all. lovely shot to show it off, hope to see more from your Lofoten trip, I enjoyed it so much when I visited. cheers

A slightly confusing view, Viviane. Is it a painting? A viewing platform? A window? A mirror? That's when reading your note comes in handy. Together the note and the picture make a superb post, imho. Cheers & thanks.
Benny
