SEE WS TOO!
The Krakow Barbican is a barbican – a fortified outpost once connected to the city walls. It is a historic gateway leading into the Old Town of Krakow, Poland. The barbican is one of the few remaining relics of the complex network of fortifications and defensive barriers that once encircled the royal city of Krakow in the south of Poland. It currently serves as a tourist attraction and venue for a variety of exhibitions.
Today Barbican falls under the jurisdiction of The Historical Museum of the City of Krakow which has made it accessible for the tourists, who can tour its interior with outline of historical development of fortifications in Krakow.
The Gothic-style barbican, built around 1498, is one of only three such fortified outposts still surviving in Europe, and the best preserved. It is a moated cylindrical brick structure with an inner courtyard 24.4 meters in diameter, and seven turrets. Its 3-meter-thick walls hold 130 embrasures. The barbican was originally linked to the city walls by a covered passageway that led through St. Florian's Gate and served as a checkpoint for all who entered the city.
Considered a masterpiece of medieval military engineering, the circular fortress of the Krakow's Barbakan was added to the city's fortifications along the coronation route in the late 15th century, based on Arabic rather than European defensive strategy. On its eastern wall, a tablet commemorates the feat of a Krakow burgher, Marcin Oracewicz, who, during the Bar Confederation, defended the town against the Russians and shot their Colonel Panin.

Bonjour, cher ami Luciano,

Buona giornata

Hello Luciano,
Three interesting photos from the Kraków Barbican, of which I like this one the best. The side walls frame the view of the angled part of the building nicely, and the turret fits the gap in the nearest roof perfectly. The somewhat disturbing things on the low ground could not be avoided.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Luciano,
The window opening makes an effective natural frame for the turret. Good management of the light and shadow contrasts assures excellent colours and clarity and some lovely textural detail.

Hello Luciano,
Good use of the rough brick window to frame the courtyard. I like the blue tarp contrasting with the red brick, the tower and the small crowd of sightseers looking back at you. Tfs!

Hello Luciano
A beautiful series of three photographs of the Krakow Barbican. So to see, well maintained and an inspiring place for photographers.

Ciao Luciano,
Perfectly placed the turret in the middle of the cross-shaped old window. Though, from picture I saw in the past there are many places within this red stones edifice which offer lots of odd POV's.
Well managed the ouitside light from the shadow inside.
Arrivedeci e grazie per le critique.

Bonjour Luciano,

Ciao Caro Luciano,
For such an impressive, important building, I am surprised how few photographs of it there are on TE. Maybe, your w/s are more technically correct, this one has the advantage of a great viewpoint, which I like very much. The ancient bricks create a fine natural frame. There is a guide in and a guide out, whilst in between, there are the wonderful details of this ancient barbican.
It is amazing that such old buildings remain intact, for they are an easy source of building materials when their original use ceases to function.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

ciao Luciano,
ciao, Giacomo

Hello Luciano,
The window creates an excellent frame for the small tower on the other side of the courtyard. The light was strong, but you handled the exposure really well. Very well spotted and captured.

Hi Luciano.
Difficult photo with the sun against, but you solved it in the best way possible, interesting framing of the Barbican inside that kind of window, the fos photos of the WS, with the most favorable light are magnificent.
The management of color and light, are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the image.
Very well done. I like it
Enjoy a good day
Very best regards.

Ciao Luciano,
great series of photos presenting various views of this unique structure. I think the best view is actually from the side of the square on the other side away from the old town but I see you had the best light from the direction of the old town.
I prefer the photos which are in the workshop because they have more color here the sky became a bit white although certainly the composition is here the best.
Excellent work!!

Hello Luciano,
Your chosen point of view on the main picture is very good allowing us a good look through the small opening. Yet I have a little preference for both pictures in the WS.
Somehow they show us more of the Barbican.
I especially like the view from on the street that shows us how impressive this structure is.
Best regards, Paul
