Photographer's Note
The Marlboro man ver. East Poland 2006
There he was in this little village right on the border to Belarus. A Sunday morning, nicely dressed having a look at the bypassers – and of course smoking his cigarette.
“In the beginning back in the 1950s, a time when cigarettes were accepted in even the politest society, Burnett created the macho icon as a way to reposition Marlboro from a "mild as May" ladies cigarette to a product with broader appeal. The original newspaper ad from Burnett carried the slogan "delivers the goods on flavor" and it immediately sent sales skyrocketing.
By the time the Marlboro Man went national in 1955, sales were at $5 billion, a 3,241% jump over 1954 and light years ahead of pre-cowboy sales, when the brand's U.S. share stood at less than 1%. “
Seems like the advertising is still working…

Hi,
I just like it. Well balanced composition together withj nice color tonation make your photo quite eye-catching. The way you've catched this fella is quite interesting and funny. He looks like an old polish John Wayne or something like that. Well, whatever, it's really great work!
Regards!

Jack, you've nailed this one deep into our souls.
this guy is more polish than Poland itself.
every tiniest pixel in this image screams my old country.
And they used to say back in my old country: Foreigners don't understand gloomy polish soul.
Heck! They do. Just look at THIS marvel of Jack R.J.

Yes, by the way, the American Malboro cowboy lost his life.
Nice side lights which give some depht of the composition.

Oh, our heroe has grown old, or maybe he is just ageing fast.
Lovely portrait though with a composition that leaves an ample room for ambience. Nice DOF and colorscale too.
