Kraków Market Square (Rynek Glówny) on a bright, summer's day. This southern Polish city was the national capital until 1596 AD, & is also on the Vistula River, upstream of Warsaw. Although the city population is only around 780,000 there are an additional 8 million inhabitants within a 100 km radius of the city centre.

Placed well the elegant lamp-post "near" beautiful building with a dome-tower, Chris.
Shining market colors mingle with the different stones and walls colors.

Hello Chris,
It seems I was there exactly two months before you, but I had the same blue sky and probably high temperature. The photo is given a good balance by the lamp and the tower of the building, likewise by the yellow parasols and the brown façade of the building's second floor. I am surprised to see so few persons. On my visit this place and the surroundings were completely packed with tourists, which was one reason why I liked the more relaxed Kazimierz district better.

Hello Chris,

This is a really crisp, well exposed photograph!
You were extremely careful with your composition, to good effect, for the lamppost is very strongly positioned, anchoring the f/g and placed so that it fills much empty sky space but in no way interferes with the tall tower on the building.
Lovely textures, too!

Bonsoir Chris,

L'étendue de la place donne de la profondeur ŕ la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la place du marché et des immeubles. La qualité de la lumičre embellit les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Hi Chris,
I have studied in Krakow for 5 years so I feel quite a sentiment to this beautiful town. Even though I spent there 5 yeras I never stopped being fascinated with its beauty and enormous possibilities.
Well selected fragment of the market here. The lamp post is so elegant, I suppose the square is so busy that not many people notice these attractive details. Good angle on the Cloth Hall with the town hall tower appearing behind.
Fantastic weather day and resulting colors.

After visiting Wroclaw last year, Krakow (and Gdansk) is next on my list of (Polish) cities I'd like to visit. A beautiful view of the market square with some great architecture on a bright and sunny day. The large lamppost is well included as well.

Hello Chris, You had wonderful weather in Krakow. The sky and colours are fabulous. Nicely composed with the dark lamppost, part of Sukiennice and the Town Hall Tower behind. Attractive also the stone benches around the Mickiewicz Monument.
Seven years have passed since your visit to Warsaw.
