Photographer's Note

15 Long Years
Aged 76 this year.
Soviets invaded this part of Poland on 17 September 1939.
She was sent to Siberia in 1941 together with her family (and thousands of other families) just like that, just because she was Polish.
She met there the German soldiers of von Paulus army. They were let free in 1949 as she remembers.
She was released in 1955. After 15 years.

Hi Jerzy..fine compo and a touching story behind the photo... it looks like quite an uncomfortable bench!
i like the texture of the wall but i think maybe little better without the piece of window above her head..

Excellent sharpeness and good story. Maybe even better if the shot was a little lower to get her feet in too.

Nice looking babushka, and an interesting and sad story. Yeah, Soviet Russia brought a lot of suffering and sadness to many nations, Polish being one of them suffered too. But it seems that the ending of this particular story is quite good, at least she got back to Poland and has been living a long life! Her face has a very kind expression, good job capturing it!

For the cropping, it's a shame that you didn't get the foots.

Hej Jerzy. Great portrait, good, simplistic composition. I like all the textures as well. perhaps a little crop off the top so the wall is just the wall? Well done.

Another great potrait. Lovely textures and a simple compostion. It certainly looks like she has lived a hard life and who knows waht those 15 years must have been like.

A sad story for and Poland at that time, with so many abuses of the country by the Soviet Union under Stalin, even when they were supposed to be halping. At least they eventually recognised he was a tyrant.

Hi Jerzy. An interesting subject with a sad tale to tell. Your shot is touching in its simplicity - I like her quiet pose on the simple bench. Nice colours and texture in the shot too. I don't mind the inclusion of the window ledge.

Bardzo rózne sa koleje ludzkich losów. Czasem nawet nie przypuszczamy, że ludzie żyjący obok nas przebrnęli przez okropności o których myśmy uczyli się zaledwie z podręczników. A przecież wystarczy popatrzeć na twarz i rece tej kobiety-jest tam zapisana historia jej niełatwego życia.
Bardzo dobre zdjęcie, mocny opis.

Hi Jerzy, amazing report, cause it's not a normal or only a shot, that one.
terrifiant note...some areas of Europe seems were a big Risiko game, where history, and dictators did what they want.
