Giribita Fortress, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

On the XVI and XVII Centuries many of these fortresses were built along the coast, from Lisbon, every 5 to 10 kms (3 to 7 miles) to protect the City from eventual ennemies coming by Sea. There are more than 20 of these fortresses from Lisbon to Roca Cape (40 Kms away). Many of them are in ruins but some of them were rebuilt on the last 50 years. This fortress is only 12 kms (8 miles) from Lisbon, along the right side of Tejo River ..

Technical notes: This photo was made a bit dark to highlight the nice sky colours (Iso ~ 64)

I quite like the composition although a slightly higher viewpoint would have seperated the far shore and the building. There is plenty of interest in the clouds as well.
The strong shadow suggests a very bright day but the whole image looks dark. It's not my monitor as I haven't experienced the problem before. I have done a little work in PSP and posted a W/S.

On ballance I think I prefer your slightly under exposed shot as it is more subtal and understated. Well done

Wonderful photo, Rui, and a very interesting note.
I like the warm colors of the wall and the excellent sky. The shape of the clouds creates a wonderful composition with the tower.
I hope you don't mind, but I had to try thetechnique described by Jose Elias. I tried this technique on photos from Israel but it didn't work so good, but it works excellent on this photo. Maybe there is something special in the sky abouve Portugal. I made a WS, I hope you like it.
