Photographer's Note

The old Neo-Manueline style Central Station (Estaçăo Central, written on both horseshoe shaped doors which can be seen clearer in the 2 workshops) fronting Rossio Square, is a difficult subject to photograph. Lots of people and traffic, on an inclined hill, and only a street lamp to use as a tripod. The train station closed in 1957 and since reopening in 2008 has only served the West line. Sadly, some selfie taking idiot climbed up on the 126 year old 1 metre high statue of King Sebastian in May 2016, and totally destroyed it after it collapsed. All that remains today is an empty niche. You can only just see the statue between the intertwined horseshoe shaped arches in the centre. The King died when he was 24, the same age as the selfie taker (who was charged with public vandalism.) Coincidence?

I might load a couple of workshops as I couldn't decide which one should be the main upload.
