In several beaches of the Portuguese coast there is the traditional fishing technique called the arte xávega. In older times, the oxen or bulls helped to take the boats to the sea and afterwards they helped to drag the nets and boats to the beach.
Nowadays you can see the bulls only in postcards or special events (for tourists).
The daily work of the fishermen is now helped by tractors instead of animals. As you see in my previous photo, the tractors pull the boats, and push them to the sea. Afterwards, as you see here, a tractor helps to pull the nets from the sea to the beach. This is Vagueira, in central Portugal, not far from my previous posts.

Em várias praias do litoral português há uma faina de pesca tradicional chamada arte xávega. Antigamente eram usados bois para levar os barcos para o mar e, depois, eles ajudavam a arrastar as redes e os barcos para a praia.
Hoje em dia só vemos os bois em postais ou em eventos especiais (para turistas).
A faina é agora ajudada por tratores em vez de animais. Como se vê na minha foto anterior, os tratores puxam os barcos, e empurram-nos para o mar. Depois, como se vê aqui, um trator ajuda a arrastar as redes do mar para a praia. Aqui é Vagueira, no centro de Portugal, não muito longe das minhas fotos anteriores.
