Lisbon - Alfama from Santa Luzia

A well-known sight of the Portuguese capital.
Anyone who visited Lisbon, has also enjoyed the panorama at the Miradouro de Santa Luzia. The slopes of Alfama offer several viewpoints to see different parts of the city and Santa Luzia is a very popular one. The Miradouro is easy to find located just a short distance higher up the hill behind the cathedral.

Many pictures taken at Santa Luzia have already been posted on TE and yet I couldnt resist to show my version. The colours of the sky just before sunset were really beautiful while the district of Alfama was still clearly visible.

It is difficult not to see this as a painting!
The colourful houses, so well composed in a triangle, all set against the sky, which radiates colours that you wouldn't imagine!

I think I am among those many who have taken photos from this spot, although the picture I uploaded here was very different. This photo shows a large part of the area, the grandeur as well as the less fashionable parts. It's most of all a photo of breathtaking colours, where the spectacular sunset is nicely matched by many of the houses and their roofs.

Le point de vue est un classique, mais c'est ce ciel extraordinaire qui fait vraiment la photo, avec un dégradé de couleurs pastel comme on en voit rarement. Les habitations blanches et colorées contribuent au charme de ce trčs beau paysage urbain baigné d'une douce lumičre.

The golden dusk colors gave extra beauty to the already fabulous sight of the Alfama quarter in Lisboa.
Mingling blue and yellow, pink and white houses with the sky is most attractive, and the pic. well made.

with the buildings pleasantly arranged across the vertical corners this composition works ever so well, but of course it`s the gorgeous pink and blue tones of evening that give the picture so much charm and atmosphere.

that's quite a view of the famous Alfama. It's almost surrealistic with that sky; a very pleasant composition full of nice sharp details and I think you've captured the atmosphere of the city well.

there's nothing wrong with posting your own version of a well photographed location...we all do it :)

I like to examine each building here, some are quite clean looking, others are quite old and in need of repair...its a good mixture.

of course the colors of the sky/light are fantastic.
each photo is unique in its own way, even if the scene has been captured many times.

Hello Paul - I'm not on TE so often these day and I missed this colourful scene; what a kaleidoscope of colours! Nicely composed with the buildings tumbling down the frame in and attractive diagonal and the two bell towers reaching up into the sky. Winter in Portugal looks gorgeous!

A marvellous Lisboa sunset with excellent saturated warm colours. Good sharpness and nice symmetry between the 2 towers book-ending the shot at left and right. Nice reflections in the bay. Good shadow details that allow us to discern the alternating colour schemes of the buildings facades of tan, blue, pink, white and grey green. Tfs!

This is alovely scene bathed in pastel colours. Loved the pastel pink in the sky which kind of echoes in the entire picture. The dome on the left and the bell tower on the right balances each other beautifully....speaks very well about your compostion and framing.
