'Porto - Secret garden'

Another picture from the very charming Porto.
This view upwards is taken from a lower spot on the Cais da Ribeira, a part of the promenade along the Rio Douro.

Ribeira is the name of Porto's riverfront district, one of the favorite neighborhoods of Daniel (dkmurphys) from where he has already presented several pictures. I don't think he has shown these houses already.

Hello Paul,

Where is the garden? I see one palm and nothing secret about it. Interesting picture taken from lower point upwards. Beautiful houses, typical Portuguese with azulejos.

Heel mooi beeld, maar een advies, ik zou nooit de gebouwen laten achterover hellen, met een tool van foto shop is alles zo opgelost.
Nochtans een juweeltje van kwaliteit met de veel verschillende gevels, heel mooi architectuur werk.
Zoiets trek mij geweldig aan, mooie gevels.

Bonjour Paul,

Je crois que tu as eu beaucoup de plaisir avec ta camera a Porto. La ville est tres photogenique avec des couleurs franches et marquees. La contre plongee donne une belle ampleur a cette rangee de maisons.

Excelent view upwards from the river onto the old and colorful Ribeira district houses, Paul.
This location is a unique place in Port, a charming town as you wrote, I really felt what you call charm while walking around the place.

Hello Paul,
The title would make anyone curious, and I remained just as curious until I read your reply to Malgo. I had suspicions that it referred to the palm, so I was right. These are really very charming houses and the low POV also makes the entire view more interesting by including the makeshift street market. Maybe Portugal would be worth another visit after more than 30 years.

Une contre-plongĂŠe intĂŠressante sur ces immeubles aux faĂ§ades personnalisĂŠes, joliment dĂŠcorĂŠes. Ton objectif a ĂŠgalement saisi la vie qui se dĂŠroule au pied de ces habitations, notamment un petit marchĂŠ, Ă en juger par le vendeur de sacs au premier plan. Belle luminositĂŠ sur l ensemble de l image faisant ressortir les couleurs. La photo est agrĂŠable et donne envie de dĂŠcouvrir cette ville au charme d antan.

Took me a minute to find your secret garden, Paul, but I really like how you have presented this, looking uphill toward the houses, with only the palm in direct sunlight making the alley almost a window to another world. The street scene could be in a number of European cities, and the palm jumps out as seemingly out of place. And you caught a bird just above it too! Well captured.

Hello Paul,

Beautiful color and enchanting looking buildings, but I am at a loss as to what I am viewing. The miscellaneous items in the foreground would suggest that this could be something where people shop or sit down, or whatever.

The buildings in the background are delightful and appear to be offices or housing. The angle of the shot gives some distortion but no question a very pleasing photo.

Hello Paul,

A fantastic upward pov with superb sharpness and vibrant colour with excellent saturation. The yellow and red facades of the bg buildings contrast superbly against the blue sky. The fg people add scale and animate the scene. I like the gap in the buildings allowing a glimpse of the bg palm tree in sunlight. Tfs.

Splendid .... this series facades, with all the charm and colorful, giving typical tiles, the flea market at the river promenade and gives a good vital touch to the composition. The alley between houses with palm tree in the background, gives a good DOF.
Sharpness, exposure, color, POV chosen, and the magnificent composition are all factors that make the success of this beautiful image.

I like the close, upward point of view, the layers of your composition, how our interest is first drawn from the street scene to the architecture and then directed to the palm tree in a brighter place, behind the buildings. Details and colours render the whole scene vibrant and intriguing. It's great that the frame is filled with colour and how the narrow glimpse to the background is so significant and delightful. love Porto! and yet its a city that I've only seen photos of...one day soon I'll get to see it in person.

I like this daily life type of look here, especially with the view pointing upwards.
