The market..., a photo from Leiria, North

Photographer's Note

I'll return with the Medieval theme, but today I'm posting a photo of the re-enactment of a 19th century market that takes place once a year, near the Monastery of Batalha. It counts on the participation of several local folk groups.
In background, we can see the Monastery of Batalha, one of the most famous and most visited monuments in Portugal. It's Gothic-Manueline style and it was built in the 14th century, by King John I, to commemorate the victory against Castilla, in the Battle of Aljubarrota.

Hello Ana,
Another high quality photo with lovely light and colours. The magnificent cathedral provides an impressive background. Even in the large group of people towards the back I believe I see more participants in the festival the ordinary visitors, so the general atmosphere is quite authentically old-fashioned. Unfortunately the note got lost but you can probably attach it by using the edit button.

Very nice capture of this local festival in Portugal taken with perfect pov and light management.
My favorite detail is this cute girl in the lower part with her cymbal.

Yes, the background was familiar to me. I've visited Batalha but many years ago.
The square in front of the monastery is very suitable to organize a 19th century market.

Once a year traditional market has so much nostalgy, keeping very very tasty atmosphere. We seem to slip out to 19th century, reflcting with your high sense and inspiration here again.

The monastery in Batalha is magnificent but here you had an additional attraction with this medieval market. I like such re-enactment, I would be delighted to go around. great fun to all, visitors and participants.

wow, thats quite the Monastery. I know there's the re-enactment going on in the fg, but I just can't help myself to look at that huge structure in the bg. I had no idea this was here, if I had known about it perhaps I would have made my way here.

you must have more photos of it i'm sure.
its not too often we see someone playing the Triangle on TE, that alone makes the photo!!
