Photographer's Note
As I was reviewing my gallery, it shocked me to learn that I've only posted 27 photos from Porto. That's just not good enough. And I've been to this city twice in the past 4 years. So lets get back at it.
This is probably one my of favourite places in the city to take photos. When the light strikes this open square, its so picturesque.
I have so many from here, some vertical just focusing on the buildings, some wide angle...it was hard to choose which to post. In the end I went with this because it also shows the weird Cube Water fountain on the right.
If you're interested - and I know you will be - check out the famous bikini model in Porto :)
She's waiting for you in the WS.
And there's another wider angle shot from higher above in the WS as well.

Hello Craig,
When I returned to Porto in 2018 after 34 years I discovered this area had become incredibly touristy, but in a miraculous way it had managed to remain so interesting and full of great photo opportunities. It's really beautiful. But did you notice that the lady who was nearly always standing at a window in the red building towards the right, mid floor, the window closest to the narrow green building, isn't there? What happened? I hope she's well! She couldn't have passed away, could she? You photographed her the last time, I photographed her, others have seen her and taken pictures of her standing there watching the street. She is (was?) an icon of Porto. This is a great photo, but it really lacks that little old lady. ;-)
And how could I not have noticed that lady in the bikini?
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Craig,
Lovely view of this sloping square and all those narrow buildings in the background. Truly original architecture, vivid colours and picturesque signs of age there.

Hi Craig,
You have captured well the persons relaxing at the terrasse. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The light is giving good rendering of the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig.
Nice to see you back in Porto, one of the most attractive places for photographers in the country. Yes, its worth to explore and to expose each and every corner of the amazing city.
There are many squares and spots where one can relax, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy great social atmosphere around. The pastel colours of the old buildings are big part of the visual attraction. Thanks for sharing, waiting for more!!!

Hi Craig
The wide angle has resulted in a fare bit of distortion but the photo is still very effective and there is no distortion in the workshop bikini wearer.
cheers

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Cette sculpture moderne attire mon regard et tranche radicalement avec l'architecture environnante (trčs appréciée).
Le linge séchant aux fenętres c'est la réalité ou pour le tourisme ! je plaisante ....
Amitiés.

Hello Craig,
Those houses look great, they are all different with different windows, patterns and sizes, which makes a really attractive and dynamic photo. The sunlight was wonderful, too. Good angle and composition, the fountain on the right is also well included.

Hi Craig, Yes, one simply has to love Porto ! It's sometimes a bit overcast and rainy there in the North of Portugal, but the city itself and its very friendly 'tripeiros' compensates for this - in spades! This take on the Ribeira really shines - lov' the colourful rhythm and all the engaging detail. Thanx for your enthousiast note too! Take care, Bert.

Hello Craig,
You must have thought long and hard about your main post because each of your photographs has its own individual specialities! Never mind, we have seen them all so we can thoroughly identify with the quirky, socially-busy area.
The houses all look as if they have been individually designed, non of this look-alike boxes. It looks like the perfect place to sit out in the sunshine, chat with friends over a socail drink and watch the world go by!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

I see a group people take a break maybe with a good glass of wine or a cup of coffee.
Also a nice view of the frontages in background.

Hi Craig
Magnificent composition, with this series of buildings that give a diagonal touch at your disposal, very diverse facades and colors, which together with the terraces give a very open and community atmosphere.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly adjusted factors, in this beautiful image.
Well done I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

I can guess its a typical sight along the Ribeira old district, Craig.
Never boring and intriguing scenery, a combination of daily life (laundry hanging) local art display, and tourists enjoy a beautiful sunny day.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike
