This is detail of the prow of a seaweed boat.
Seaweed boats are very typical in Aveiro. In the beginning of this city (like Amsterdam, this city has been built over water, and terrains gain progressively to the sea), there were only three types of citizens: Those whom work only in agriculture labor, those dedicated to the salt extraction and others living from the seaweeds (manure) where it could be carried on specific boats. Today, when thinking of Aveiro people associate the image of this kind of boats and their specific shape (remember me to post one shot of them...).
