Photographer's Note

Yesterday afternoon, one of the best known old neighbourhoods of Lisbon - Alfama - was pretty busy.
What attracted me here, was the gas man. He was there for about 15min, taking a break from the steep ascent, and all the time he was there he didn't stop chatting with everyone who passed by. I don't know what the conversation theme was, but I'm guessing they were all complaining about one thing or other: complaining about eveything is a bit of a national passtime in Portugal. It almost seemed as if there was a line of people waiting for their turn. I guess that the guy on the right gave up, but not the ones a bit further up. There was even a guy who sat while reading the newspaper at the end of the line.
It was a very busy day for the gas man.

I guess we chose well the place for this photo session. 6 other Portuguese members were spread around capturing other scenes. And believe me, there was plenty of diferent corners for everyone.
