Photographer's Note

My dear TE friends,

I decided to visit the sunflowers field in the Oeiras city after to see the pictures that Goncalo (Bluejeans) put in the TE.

This place is amazing among buildings and not so far of the see

Sunfolower and the Bee !

In the WS you can see the same place from a different POV

Oeiras city
Oeiras is a civil parish and a municipality in western Lisbon Metropolitan Area. It is in conurbation with Lisbon, the parish population is 34,850, and the entire Oeiras municipality has 168,475 inhabitants. The town (vila) of Oeiras is one of the most populous towns in Portugal. Located by the end of the mouth Tagus river (rio Tejo), across from Almada, in the Greater Lisbon Area.

And the Bee

Exist of ten of varieties of honey of bees exist that we can get: according to budding, the attainment lands or still according to preparation techniques. Of this form they vary in color, smell and flavor. They are differentiated, thus, in the color, going of the colorless, yellow white to the chestnut mainly. Another marcante characteristic in some honeys is the consistency liquid or hardened that will be able to present when stored in container, being of equal quality under this aspect. In what it says respect to the nectar, it can come from an only flower (monofloral honey) or from several (plurifloral honey). Certainly it does not have rigorously monofloral honey, however the presence of another nectar in small amount does not influence appreciably in its aroma, color and flavor. It is important to point out that, the spite of the honey used currently in bigger scale in the feeding human being to come from the production of the meiliferous bees, exists other insects that produce also it in lesser amount and is not explored economically.

Bright and eye catching, yellow and the blue in strong contrast. And it is strange to see the city not far behind these lovely fields of colour. Nice angle of view and the sharpness of the forground flower is super showing all its finery. Love the bee too.

Bom dia Aires,
Com que entăo este é o coitadoo a quem torceste o pescoço?!:)Ainda se podem ver as marcas da luta que o mesmo teve contigo no lado esquerdo e a forma como năo quis mesmo cooperar pois mesmo depois de vencido ficou a olhar para o lado de fora da foto:)
De qualquer forma gosto sempre de ver estas composiçőes de cores alegres e vibrantes com um fundo suavemente desfocado.
Valeu a pena o esforço!

A good close up on the well positionned sunflower, allowing to see more of the field and with behind the buildings of the city, under beautiful cloudy/blue sky. The narrow DOF works well in isolating the main subject from the BG.

Ahhhhh, cá está ela. Bom dia Aires, está simplesmente fabulosa. E lá está a malfadada abelha - valeu a pena esperar aquele tempo todo e ainda por cima năo está sózinha. Torceste o girassol de tal maneira que ficou de costas para a vista...zangado ;-) Gosto muito do efeito desfocado no fundo e o WS também está com umas cores lindíssimas.

Olá Aires,
Suponho que a tiraste no mesmo sítio onde o Gonçalo tirou as deles. Deve ser o campo de girassóis portuguęs mais popular do TE. Além das cores e da presença da abelhinha, gosto do enquadramento, com os prédios em contraponto ao girassol 'principal' e do céu, azul com nuvens. O corte parcial deste até nem fica nada mal e o desfocado está na dose certa. Algumas pétalas estăo OE, mas parece-me quase inevitável.

I can see why you decided to post this shot, not the one in WS, here the big flower in the foreground makes the photo much more powerful. the simplicity of the image (in a good way), the easily recognisable shapes and bold colours remind me of a child's drawing, I definitely like it. the bee is an added bonus, this is a great shot.

Superb composition, Aires! Everything is placed to the right position. The pleasing background blur is so attractive! The view from those buildings must be stunning with those sunflowers around, whenever these are flowered, of course.

Năo tinha reparado que também tinhas ido ver os girassóis de Oeiras. Estăo-se a tornar num ponto turístico da cidade na época de verăo.
Quando vou a Portugal, fico sempre na Tapada do Mocho e visito a minha măe que mora em Oeiras. Mas no Inverno năo há girassol ao natural!!!
Este aqui é enorme, com esta bonita aproximaçăo. E com uma abelha a trabalhar ainda ficou melhor.

Great use of the wide end of your lens and fine note too. I love the vibrant colors here. The only think I would have done different is crop a little out of the sky so that the sunflower in the front is even more frame filling.

Os teus girassóis também estăo lindos, a foto principal é artística com este grande exemplar visitado pela abelha, aqui pertinho e a cidade ao fundo desfocada. Gosto muito do WS também, com a visăo geral. As cores e a luminosidade estăo magníficas.
Parece haver mais de um męs de atraso na temporada de girassóis aqui no Quebec, com relaçăo ŕ Europa - aí em meados de junho, aqui no final de julho.
