Photographer's Note

I want this to be a sort of follow-up to my previous post, both pictures taken from about the same angle. The previous post was a shot of a beautiful Neoclassical building in the center of Bucharest, in contrast to these massive concrete apartment buildings which were designed and built during the so-called Golden Era (Epoca de Aur), referring bitterly to the period of time during which communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. He embarked on a series of urban development projects, which unfortunately changed the face of some Romanian cities forever. He demolished a large part of the old Bucharest, and remodeled a new urban city center. These are apartment buildings in Piata Alba Iulia (Alba Iulia Sq.) at the opposite end of the grand boulevard leading to the Parliament Palace, in the center of Bucharest.

The picture was taken with my digital camera and edited in Photoshop (resized, partly desaturated, sharpened, frame, saved for web)
