Red Roofs and Blue sky, a photo from Prahova, East

Photographer's Note

The buildings in the valley are part of the town of Sinaia. Taken near the summit of Caraiman Peak, which is 2384 metres above sea level. The Bucegi Mountains are part of the southern Carpathian mountains where they join the Transylvanian Alps. At left is one of several chairlifts and gondolas taking tourists and skiers to & from the mountain. An excellent composition for this view of the vast hilly landscape under such a fine blue sky and some friendly white clouds. The house and its attractive orange roof is very nicely added to the left hand foreground.

Belle photo en plongée sur cette station d'arrivée du chair lift en haut de cette magnifique montagne. Le tout rouge contraste bien avec le bleu du ciel.

I photographed this building in January 2012. Snow drifts formed, very similar to these ones, which makes me wonder if the wind always blows in the same direction in the Bucegi... :-)

Hello Chris,

The pristine snow and the red roof make a useful contrasting pair of colors. Of course, the clear blue sky adds a third intense color contrasting with the snow and the roofs. I would love to see the Carpathian Mountains. Have you left Turkey now, and are you in the Balkans?

Good morning Chris,
View from high point over this ski resort with good depth down the valley and town bellow.
Contrast of the red roof-tile and grey/brown stones along with the wooden hut near it - all in fine contrast to white. A stated before, not much snow accumulated on this peak for skiing - but nevertheless, a wonderful landscape.

the landscape and the elements in the foreground are interesting, I like very much the distinction between the brilliant, snowy area and the vast, dark valley below. You arranged your composition effectively and achieved great clarity and definition, the clouds add interest and light to the darker part of the frame.
