Ceausescu's Palace, a photo from Bucuresti, East

Photographer's Note

This is the ball room of the romanian dictator Ceausescu's palace. The palace is supposedly the worlds second largest administrative building after the pentagon. Since there are romanians here at TE (Fanel et al) who probably know all the history concerning this building I don't dare go into details :).

My little APS-camera had some problems with light-metering here, it flashed and a little of the flash light hit a door which leaked into the picture, I had to crop quite much to get rid of that. The original was terribly grainy, I used a feature called smart blur (Corel Photo-paint) to remove some of the grain. If anyone is good at fixing perspective I would appreciate a workshop explaining how that is done.

This is exactly the kind of place where I would love to walk around with a monopod or tripod and a camera attached to it. And you as well Simon liked to capture these wonderful details. Well seen. Thanks for sharing!

C'est bien de montrer ce genre de cliché cela montre bien que ce genre d'individu se moquais du peuple en le laissant dans la misčre pendant que lui vivait le grand luxe. Bravo Simon Brillante idée

Agree with all the others, especially in "let us be happy that it is over." Coming from Romania, many years ago...His name is/was Ceausescu.
According to your note, you do a great job. My first thought was: does he have problems with his camera?
Sorry, can't give the "big" one...

Exellent composition with the curtain in the centre that is opened. I like the mighty pillars and the attarctive carpet. Good shot.

Good reminder of the old times, Simon. Im so glad its over now! Fortunately Ceausescu did not have to many chances to dance in this palace. It is actually called Casa Poporului or "The House of the People. A palace that is maybe the result of destruction of the old part of Bucharest, historical monuments, mainly monastic buildings and churches, destruction of many people houses and lives.

Good job in trying to show the dimensions of this place and some of the interior architecture of the buliding.
