Photographer's Note
Golubac (Голубац, pronounced [ɡǒlubats]) is a small town and municipality located in the Braničevo District. Due to many nearby archeological sites and the Đerdap national park, the village is a popular tourist, fishing and sailing destination.
Golubac derived from golub ("pigeon" or "dove") and is therefore often translated as "the town of doves".
The photo shows a building from 1890, popularly called "Mower", and is actually the house of grain merchant Aleksa Popovic. For a time, it was the seat of an agricultural cooperative. Today is private property.
WS - image of entire building.
