Photographer's Note
Taken in the same day as my picture "Farewell", just half an hour later. From the same spot. Clear, crystal air and a gorgeous, unique evening full of silent pleno organ music. Glorious, endless sky contrasting to night fog slowly invading and conquering valleys far below me. I could not left the spot until I was caught by night high in the mountains.
Scanned by Nikon CoolScan ED-IV. Cropped on sides to get a centered composition. At 4.000 pix picture width the sky was masked. Mask Shape reduced 3 pix to exclude mountains edge of blurring which followed. The sky blurred 2 pix radius with Gaussian blur. Paint on Mask tool switched on and a Linear Gradient Fill tool applied to the sky simulating inverted gradient gray filter. Saturation at the upper most edge of the picture increased slightly. Mask deleted and another hand made mask around the fog in the valley made. Feathered 20 pic inside. Using Curves I lightened the fog a bit and also blurred it (Gaussian blur 2 pix radius). Some burning and dogging work on the fog. Resampled to 800 pix. No sharpening except the mountains/sky contact with Sharpen Brush by hand. JPEG level 25 (Corel PhotoPaint notation).

Great! I really like the patch of fog in the valley between the mountains. The sky, again, looks incredible in every way that I can imagine. With a shot like this, I can simply sit back and enjoy the scenery. I feel like I'm right there, standing next to you, as you take the shot. Can't get better than this, to place the viewer right into the image.

This is unreal, almost too unreal in fact. It's a wonderful photo, though I noticed that you brought up the brightness of the fog in post-processing. If there was more detail in the mountains then it might seem more realistic. Have you tried contrast masking?

I think this is beautiful. The sky itself is incredible. For me, the most wonderful thing is how the fog gently brings out silhouettes of mountains as they slope down into the misty valley. For this reason, I think that the almost completely black foreground works in this picture.
Ronners is right that this scene looks almost unreal, and I think this is its attraction. Is this also in the Julian alps?

Very beautiful and indeed unreal. However you did it, I think the ultimate effect is pleasing. The foreground silhouette combined with the subtle fog detail in the center of the frame offset the infinitely detailed sky well. Horizon is placed dead center, but it doesnt' bother me much.

Excellent. The glowing parallel lines in the sky are just not real :-). And the fog surrounded by the black mountains is like coming from a brewing cauldron ready to spill. I am just waiting for it to boil over. Perfect post halloween picture, huh? Even the colors are appropriate. But whatever interpretation there is to this picture, it is very beautiful - enhanced by the frame too.

Stunning capture of that misty fog creeping through the valley floor. With the sunset and dark mountains, it has a very eerie look about it that adds to its appeal.

Just to be there at the time when you shoted the pic, you deserve to have success to make the extremely good pics. You are a real hunter on the extreme weather phenomenons. Perfect.

Beautiful photo. The colours of the sky and the contrast of the dark mountains make a great photo, but the fog as well in the valley is superb. Great shot

Hi Amadej,
I like this landscape a lot.
The three main points of this shot, the sky, the mountains, the fog, create a excellent composition.
The color contrast between the sky and the mountains is perfect.
The post-processing is fine too.
Bravo !
