From Palma with palma, a photo from Mallorca, Balearics

Photographer's Note

Earlier this year I had the pleasure to visit one of the less popular Canary Islands, La Palma. Ironically towards the end of the holiday season I visited a town called Palma. It is Palma de Mallorca. To add to the confusion my first photo includes a palm tree. Palm in Spanish or Polish translates as palma. So here you are: a palma from Palma but not to be confused with La Palma. The magnificent building behind the palm tree is the Catedral de Mallorca as seen from elegant Passeig del Born.

Hello Mariusz,
A great shot with excellent sharpness and clarity. I really like the juxtaposition of the palm tree and the church. The orange parts of the palm leaves add a very appealing colour contrast as well.

Ladny widok na fasade tej katedry. Pieknie widac drobne szczegoly architektoniczne. Kompozycja z palma z tego miejsca całkiem zasadna.

Never mind about all the confusion with the words, this is a lovely photograph, the cathedral sharp and illuminated as a perfect link with the f/g palm tree.
The close crop works perfectly to confine the attention on the two feature images.

It is always a good idea to put an interesting object in the foreground with this type of photo and this palm tree is very suitable for that.
It gives the photo an attractive depth.

Despite of the mass tourism ,Mallorca is a beautiful island , too , with amazing landscapes and preserved villages , especially in the West.
The chosen POV is perfect here , to compose the splendid picture with a stunning contrast between the greenery (partially in the shade) and the immaculate white facade .

Fantastic composition with the perfect palm, bushes and some other tree species, the two elegant turrets and the wonderful rosette form a beautiful angle of this masterly cathedral.

I stay in a home near this cathedral and I remember this was one of the first places I visited with him. excellent use of the palm tree (native from canary islands)and the architecture of the cathedral.
