Photographer's Note
During a routine check on my small fishing boat in Spain I found that the floor had some small holes in it. I assume that it had become rotten so I proceeded to remove the wood. The wood seemed in very good condition as I cut through it. As I removed a large section of the floor I found the reason for the holes. A family of mice had decided this was a safe place to make a home. As the light streamed in the parents made a dash for freedom leaving the young in the nest, which was made from my finest marine ply wooden floor. The young mice all tried to hide under each other; once their eyes were covered I guess they thought they were safe.
The point is that I had made my house secure from infestations of these mice, but nature always finds a way (a quote from Jurassic Park). The mice decided if they could not get into my house they would live in my boat. It’s great living in the countryside but I guess I will have to learn how to exist along side its original inhabitants.
