El Escorial

I guess I was pretty unlucky with the weather, the day I visited the impressive palace of El Escorial. It was the cloudiest day of my recent Madrid trip and this view would surely have been much better if it had been sunny. Nonetheless, I would like to share this view anyway.

Located 45km from Madrid and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, El Escorial is a historical royal residence, built by King Philip II in the 16th century. Apart from a palace, it is also a monastery and a royal mausoleum.
