Photographer's Note

Church of St. Mary of the Assumption (Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Asuncion) is one of the tourist attractions in Castro Urdiales. The Gothic style Catholic church was built in the 13th century on a high cliff during the reign of King Alfonso VIII of Castile.

Work on Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Asuncion continued through to the 15th century. The result is a basilica with three naves, high arches and buttresses.
Nowadays there are held occasional concerts

cześć Ryszard, jaki uroczy kościołek! I cos zielonego rośnie tam na górze. Bajeczne niebo, z takimi malutkim chmurkami nawet bardziej atrakcyjne niz bezchmurne.

bella foto e bella chiesa, č interessante vedere le differenze di muratura e di pietre che sono nelle mura, molte sono sicuramente dovute a restauri.
Ottima luce e bei colori, oltre che all'interessante condivisione.

This church is quite spectacular, maybe partly because of this POV. The buttresses are remarkable. I would have loved to walk around this to see it from every angle. It's a very interesting photo with superb light and colours.

What a beautiful place, one of my favorite things is red brick on blue sky, so how cool that this changes to red in the upper half! The green grass completes a great color range. From the thumbnail, i thought this was a ruin, as the buttresses look so brilliantly random from this angle and look almost like the remaining stone tracery of broken windows. Very cool photo.
