Photographer's Note
Another one shot 22 years ago in Olivença (Olivenza for the Spanish).
For what I remember, it's a yard of the medieval castle of the town, that was turned into a temporary concert hall for a summer cultural festival. I think that I was at the same tower where I also shot my previous posts («In the top of Olivença» and «Sunset time at the castle of Olivenza»). Interestingly, almost nobody notices that the young man that appears on those posts is visible in this photo also.
Ali Peyman 'naval's posted a very good WS in which the POV is much more enhanced.
---
Olivença is a nice little town South of Badajoz, which is under Spanish rule since the early 1800's that the Portuguese claim that it should still be Portuguese, as it was from the early 1200's to the early 1800's.
A kind of Gibraltar "up side down". As Gibraltar, it was occupied during the turbulent years of the Napoleonic Peninsular Wars and it was never surrendered back. Now the interesting thing is that Gibraltar was kept by the winners of the war and Olivença stayed with the loosers.
I think that the vast majority of Portuguese and Spanish people don't care much about these facts now and diplomatic pressures ended several decades ago, although the Spanish rule was never oficially recognised by Portugal and there are a couple of international treaties of the 19th century that state that it is a Portuguese land. Recently there were some discussions that made their way to the headlines of TV, radio and newspapers because of the construction of a bridge across the river Guadiana, which is the "de facto" border. Some claimed that it was an illegal construction as it couldn't be an international bridge because Portugal oficially claims the sovereignty on both sides of the river.
I doubt that you find any "Oliventino" (someone who was born in Olivença) that wants to be Portuguese, but it's interesting to see how they cherish their Portuguese ancestry and Portuguese people. And how it still it's perceivable a kind of "Alentejo" mood (Alentejo is the Portuguese region across the border) not only in architecture but also in the accent of the voices of the eldests, which sounds like Castellano/Spanish with Alentejano accent.
For what I remember, the main old monuments date from the 13th century (namely the castle on the photo) and 15th and 16th century, having one or two nice examples of "Manuelino", a portuguese form of late Gothic inspired by the nautic motifs of the Discoveries.

This is an absolutley POV. It almost gives the impression that you are passing by on a balloon or ready to land there with your parachute. I know you are on the top of the tower, but still the most vertical drop is great to take all the geometric details down in the yard.

Hi Jose,
the POV is somehow strange for a theater or concert hall. I am not sure, what your original focus was, because the hall is cut in the bottom, I miss a physical end. The scan itself again is good again.

interesting angle for the composition, it makes you feel as if your on the roof yourself just looking into the courtyard as someone arrives. The way the chairs have been organised for the concert make it look so constructed, yet the fact that the musicians and audience are missing make the seats become the spectators themselves, interesting theme. Olá Jose,
This is very nice aerial view of courtyard from top. Your POV is created with right angle. I like layout of ground textures and line of chairs. Old and old type of roof tiles, arched entrance, and white façade brings typical Spanish architecture to your frame. You protected very well your photos. My son promises me that he will keep well my negatives from Iraq and Italy from 25 years ago. I hope I can share them with my friends in TrekEarth. Congratulations.
Friendly Regards,
Parbo

Hi Jose - a great POV, very very high, and nicely catching the pretty elements and shapes down there, I find the frame very efficient and appropriate. Olivenza is a lovely town and I went to see the bullfight festival (even posted one here) so I missed this castle, by the way the town in the Portuguese side (Elvas?) is charming too. Regards, Daniel

Hello Jose,
I cannot believe this shot was taken 22years ago, the color management and the POV give a true modern feel. What an amazing shot this is! Great capture.

José,
Está muito interessante sua fotografia. Na miniatura não dava para definar a originalidade das formas. Interessante que a casa de uma tia de minha mulher, portuguesa, é muito semelhante a essa de sua fotografia.
Abraço
