Photographer's Note

Since 1990 the Natural Park of La Albufera, is included in the list of wetlands of international importance for birds, established under the Ramsar Convention on February 2, 1971 and since 1991 Zep (a Special Protection Area for Bird). It presents a wide variety of habitats that allow the existence of a large global diversity of species of fauna and flora.
The four main environments are:
-- La Restinga, with four subambientes: the beach, dune cord front, the dune system internal (colonized by a dense pine forest and scrub), and mesh (small salt marshes between the dunes).
-- The Marjal, which occupies the largest area of the park. It is mostly devoted to rice cultivation.
-- The Albufera of great importance for the park, for its significance in regulating water flow in the rice field, as well as its scenic and ecological value.
-- El Monte, sparsely represented.
