Photographer's Note

Väderöarna ("The Weather Islands") are some of Sweden's westmost outposts in the Atlantic Ocean and have the country's most windy climate. Two of the islands are large enough to have housed a small island population of pilots and fishermen and are nowadays a popular sailing destination for holiday sailors travelling along the Swedish north-western coast. This shot was shot at a quarter past eleven at night (23:15) in July, about an hour after sunset. This far from the equator, the summertime nights are short and do not really get quite dark.

Should you visit the islands (day trips depart Fjällbacka on the coast), you might want to spend a night or two at the hostel on the main island (the yellow building in the photo above).
