Mariefred is famous for its imposing Gripsholm Castle. This scene is quite unspectacular, but I like its grey minimalism.

Dag Benny,

Een grijze dag in Sweden hoeft geen slechte dag te zijn.
U nam een mooi beeld van de kleine pier, maar laag genomen, dit zorgt voor een perfect perspectief en diepte foto.
Ik begrijp uw uitlating als "minimalism", maar moet er nu perse veel op een foto staan om mooi te zijn, dit geloof ik niet.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

I love grey days, they have so much more character than cloudless blue skies. Excellent minimalism and perspective here. The textures of the pier are enchanting and I like that little spot of green lichen in the right foreground. Excellent depth and Rule of Thirds framing.

I agree: the minimalism, together with the near-symmetrical composition is very effective in a low-key, subtle way. The lifebelt offers a note of bright relief to the overall sombre tones. Thank you for not falling for the temptation to "big up" the saturation and contrast!
