Photographer's Note

Winter is almost over for this year, so I thought I'll post my first and last winterphoto for this year.

This photo was taken on a cold winter day in February 1998 from the Västerbron in Stockholm allowing a view over some of the older parts of Stockholm with Kungsholmen left of the City hall and Riddarholmen on the right. There is some snow left on some of the roofs.

The bright nordic winter light is caused by the low altitude of the sun above the horizon and the reflections of the light on the snow. Midwinter it is getting dark at around 15.00 hours in Stockholm. This one, taken in February was probably taken around the same time.

If going to Stockholm during winter try going after mid January as usually the sky is clearing from the clouds (which also means it is getting colder).
