Photographer's Note
I have looked through my Stockholm pictures and found some worth posting. This one was taken in January on a cold afternoon just as the sun was setting.
The ocra colored building is Stockholm Grand Hotel which is old, expensive and luxurious. At least so I ´ve heard, I have never entered the place. It is by tradition the hotel where the Nobel Prize winners stay when they come for the ceremony.
The boats in the foreground is part of the fleet ran by Vaxholmsbolaget. These and many other in different age and shape make it possible for people to live on the islands of the archipelago by transporting people and small goods to a system of puplic piers all around the year. Of course the trafic is much more intense in the summer than when this picture was taken.

Definetly worth posting, the light is really good, and the compo holds so many elements but all together it makes a calm picture with a lot of life in the foreground. It's a bonus that of all the flags only the Swedish one is strechted out in the wind.

What a great view! Everything looks so beautiful and in order. perfect exposure, very good composition, and the swans in the foreground are a very welcome addition. Well done Ebbe!

The first thing I find striking about this is the light, Ebbe - very delicate this interplay of bright and shadowy areas on the façades. The grand hotel is a quite imposing structure indeed, well showcased by your shooting angle; I also like the diagonal pattern of the flagpoles with the Swedish flag proudly waving in the center. The white boats as well as the swans and ducks add a fine balance to this crisp and well-contrasted shot.

La prise est trés estethique et riche en détails j'aime bien les jeux d'ombres sur la facade cela donne un bon coté de relief.
Bravo Une image propre Ebbe du bon travail

I know I'm singing the same old song, but in my opinion there is too much sharpening here, I find it quite disturbing.
The view is typically swedish, impressive, it just needs to loosen the tie a bit. (sorry for a bit of obscure inter-scandinavian mockery)

While I agree with Torben's comment on too much sharpening (visible edging on the green roofs)
More than a relaxed evening light shot, I think it contains more tension in it, I must say i'm pretty much impressed with the repeating patterns that can be read in a lower left to upper right diagonal funnel, I guess you could have titled your shot "profusion" : starting LL with "many" ducks, "many" middle boats and finally a the top "many" windows.

Grand Hotel and adjacent buildings very nicely reproduced in the pale Winter light, Ebbe. The "darker" part is nicely "illuminated" by the white boats and the refections on the water and all the birds adds a nice " living" touch. A very sober capture - well worthy a capitol!
I'm not especially disturbed by the sharpening - maybe because I'm a sharpening man myself - and as a further reply to Torben's mockery: I'd like to see a loose tie at Hôtel d'Angleterre du Copenhague... ;o)

Hi Ebbe, really nice, these buildings with this sunlight on them. Because of all the birds in teh water. it is such a nice addition. Informative notes.
Thanks for rating my Willemsbrug, BTW, it's still very red!

Splendid composition, excellent light and contrast, great color. Over all it is a SPLENDID photo, but have to agree with Torben, the pic. has been oversharpen. I seen it speciel on the flags and on the blis birds.
Be back tomorrow with point, owe you some on another great pic.

The location is breathtaking. The magnificient waterfront with graceful white swans, boats and classy buildings make it all for me. Plus the evening sun and the shadows on the façade - it's all perfect!
