A friend and I was out bouldering at a small cliff about a 10 minute walk from where I live when a thunderstorm suprised us. Luckily there was a small roof where we could seek shelter from the rain and watch the show at the same time. Thunder and heavy rain can be wonderful if you have a nice, sheltered viewpoint.
When the rain slowed to a drizzle I started walking back home. Just as I was about to enter my house I saw the most fantastic rainbow I have ever seen. it was still raining but the low sun shone at the rain almost as if from below. In the beautiful colors I could see the shimmering glitters of individual raindrops. It was jawdropping! I ran lika a gazelle up the 4 stairs to my apartment to get my camera, but when I got back down, the moment had passed... (always bring your camera!)
I was however able to catch this slightly less impressive rainbow in a panorama from my livingroom window shortly after. The full image is composed from 8 different pictures taken handheld in a rapid succession while semi hanging out of my window.
