Photographer's Note

Today's two photos may surprise some of you: There are no persons seen in any of them. But there are clear proofs of human presence. Look at the flower pots!

This is once again from the northern shore of Södermalm island in Stockholm, but this was taken a few weeks before my two most recent photos. On the western part of the quay 25 berths are available for rent to private persons who want to use their boats as permanent homes.

A boat that will be moored here must meet certain requirements regarding safety measures etc. In return the city will supply running water, electricity and certain other services.

On the eastern part of the quay, closer to the city centre, a few permanently moored boats are used as low cost hotels, restaurants and nightclubs.

Across the water to the right you can see the City Hall, opened in 1923.

A neighbouring boat can be seen in the WS.
