Photographer's Note
I wish to apologize for my recent silence.
Last week I’ve arrived from Kuala Lumpur via Frankfurt and Zurich, to Baden, my first stop during my long journey. Until today I was without internet connection, that why my silence.
I’ve take few photos in Baden, but I find that this one, not the most typical but historical, shall be of interest to TE viewers.
View from Baden’s Old Town to former Oederlin AG Factory dock in Obersiggenthal-Rieden and the Ennetbaden’s vineyards. Unfortunately the Limmat River is not visible in this photo.
Over 150 years of history, the Oederlin AG escorted to the present day. The company survived two world wars and changed continuously. What began at this location with viticulture and wine production, probably already in Roman times, became a popular work and cultural center.
In 1858 the former vineyard house was the first factory building of the young company. On the banks of the Limmat River a factory with transmission-driven machines had been established.
The use of water power from Limmat River allowed the factory rational and cost-effective mass production. Oederlin AG owned two water wheels on an axle out. Despite or because of this technology, the workforce quickly grew from 40 to 130 workers.
Between the nineties of the 19th century and the end of the First World War Oederlin AG became a large company employing more than 400 workers. The structural adaptations of those years gave the factory area to be still valid today appearance.
The success of the founded in 1891 adjacent Brown Boveri & Cie. brought Oederlin large orders. Between 1892 and 1906 larger factory foundry halls were built. Periodic fluctuations in the economy and the gaining strength class consciousness of the working class led in 1908 to a three-week strike which was broken off.
By the end of the sixties, a profitability slump loomed in the valves business. To save the company, the management outsourcing, joint ventures and sales initiated specific lines of production. It was 20 years lasting process during which the Oederlin Foundry AG and the AG Oederlin changed to a real estate company.
Since the end of the eighties, there is the concept of foreign leasing and asset maintenance. This allowed interested parties from various sectors such as handicrafts, services, culture, etc., to settle in the rooms of the Oederlin AG.

Good evening Miro,
The note explain superbly the presence of the big chimney between town houses, nowadays dwellings.
Fine high point over town, green field beyond and newer houses along the slopes.
Looking at google-map, I realized the Limat river springs start flow from this region aroun=d town.
My best regards, lovely photo presented.

Hello Miro, Fantastic picture, the sharpness is just incredible and the colours also nicely saturated, it is really a great joy for eyes to look at. I like the view in the right corner, with the nice view of balconies and tiny figure of mum with a pram.

Hi Miro,
A well composed picture where you have separated the green and the orange/yellow parts with a diagonal line of trees. The vertical chimneys enhance the diagonal. A very interesting note as well.
Kind regards

Hello Miro,
beautiful photo of Baden. Here in Brazil we have a beer company named "Baden Baden" located in Campos de Jordăo City that received Switzerland imigration. The beer name is a homage to Baden city. The big chimney in the middle of the photo was nice included separating the photo in left and right. A beautiful colorful city.

Hello Miro,
a comprehensive, apt and interesting composition to present this town and talk about its history. I like how you placed so many elements in one frame, leading the viewer through in a steady and delightful way. The architecture, the old factory, the modern buildings and the vineyards, give us a superb description, full of details, vivid textures and pleasant colours. It seems that the town has formed its current aspect very smoothly. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
Ourania

Hi Miro
Enjoy reading your lenghty note and bits of history. The brilliant sunshine creates lots beauty to this breathtaking panorama depicting an old town scene with the elevated view point showing the immaculate detail, brightly exposed and pleasant clarity, enough interest around and wealth of colours with the red chimney provides an influential colour breaker. I think the new cluster of houses in the lively green backdrop gives us a nice balance separating from the old which occupies the main foreground but enriching the whole scene. It's a pleasant shot easy on the eyes, rich in colours and detail indeed worthy an effort, Wonderful capture and tfs
Best regards

Hi Miro,
Great to have you back again, I remember you had been away, but was beginning to wonder if you got lost!? :) This is definitely of interest alright, very informative notes and a lovely view to match. The colors are intense, and although few in number, they sure make a big impact on the visual. I particularly like the slice of blue from the building sneaking in from the right side of the frame...just enough to add a touch of muted contrast. Bright, clear and sharp focus...there's detail in every section of the composition. Glad to have you back in the mix. Looking forward to more. Take good care. All the best.
Friendly wishes,
Jason
